Audition Requirements

Auditioning for the National Children's Chorus is fun and easy! Our directors are not expecting finished products when meeting our young applicants. Rather, they are looking for raw talent, a strong desire to learn and a true love of music, all of which when combined with the right training produce spectacular results. Our directors are not only the finest technicians in the field, but are extremely personable, encouraging the success of each student as much as possible during the audition process. It is their top priority to support each one of our candidates and maximize his or her potential for success.

New York

Applying to the National Children's Chorus in New York is a two part process:

Audition: An appointment with one of our directors to meet the candidate and finalize which NCC ensemble s/he will fit most successfully. Auditions for the NCC consist of vocalizing to test for range and intonation. Above all, our directors are interested in assessing raw skill level, personality, and existing vocal technique.

Final Interview: A telephone conversation with the Executive Director to confirm all other details about the applicant and review the logistics involved in chorus membership (schedule, performances, tuition etc).

Application Fee

There is a $45 application fee, which covers the entire application process (audition and final interview). Audition appointments are confirmed only when the application fee has been received. All application fees are nonrefundable.
